WandaVision is an unexpected project in the MCU so far. And that’s what its lead actress Elizabeth Olsen a.k.a. Scarlet Witch feels like.
According to Comicbook, Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch in the WandaVision TV series, recently talked to ELLE. She said that the show provided a blank slate for the MCU to tell stories in a way hitherto unexplored under Marvel Studios.
“The show is like a blank slate for them,” she said while mentioning Kevin Feige. He’s the head of everything that comes out in the franchise.
WandaVision: A different take!
Speaking of her interview with ELLE, Elizabeth Olsen emphasized the new way of storytelling. And that’s being introduced to the MCU followers through WandaVision. She also talked about how the journey has been so far for the show’s two main characters.
“Wanda and Vision’s journey to this point is a story of pure, innocent love and deep connection with another person.”
“It was also very traumatizing. Tragedy has always been their story. In our show, we kind of wipe that clean and start fresh.”
Moreover, she also said that their story is about a couple trying to fit in, more than using their reality-altering abilities. That they don’t want to be discovered by anyone as far as their true identity is concerned. And that’s quite evident to witness as well in the three episodes revealed so far.
The Disney Plus MCU series, WandaVision, premiered on Jan. 15th, 2021. An old sitcom & comedic style makes it unique to watch. Although reactions are mostly positive since its release, some viewers haven’t connected with it.
More MCU shows are coming
Meanwhile, there are many more MCU TV shows about to arrive on Disney’s popular streaming service. In March, Falcon and the Winter Soldier will make its debut. Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan will play major roles in that title. Then there’s the Ms. Marvel series starring Iman Vellani. Other anticipated projects are Secret Invasion, Moon Knight, Armor Wars, Ironheart, Loki, She-Hulk, and Hawkeye.
It looks like a pretty amazing line-up of big titles, scheduled to release sooner in the future. However, many of them belong to phase five, which means that the ongoing phase won’t feature many TV shows. But that’s fine, considering the fact there are already a ton of web series these days. If MCU also keeps a rapid launching speed, it won’t provide a proper time for its avid followers to absorb the multiple stories; comprising new comic book characters.
Coming back to WandaVision, its fourth episode will arrive this Friday on Disney+.
