Ellen DeGeneres is still being criticized for her recent apology on Ellen Show.
Former Ellen Show employees, experts, reality TV stars, and tabloids are questioning why Ellen DeGeneres incorporated jokes into her apology.
Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi wrote the comedian’s apology together
But according to National Enquirer, the comedian cannot solely be blamed for what she said on television. After all, she, allegedly, asked her wife, Portia de Rossi, to help her out with her apology.
DeGeneres and de Rossi, allegedly, wrote the apology together. And they taped it several days before it aired.
“Ellen’s relieved and feels the weight of the world has been lifted off her shoulders,” a source said.
‘Ellen Show’ employees still upset with Ellen DeGeneres
But former Ellen Show employees are not thrilled with DeGeneres’ apology. One of them even claimed that the host’s apology was tactical.
“She’s sharing it now because it’s for premiere weeks and it’s to get viewers back,” the former employee said.
The comedian is still making amends
Despite the criticisms, a show insider revealed that DeGeneres has been trying to make amends with everyone. She has also, reportedly, been speaking directly to her staff.
“Ellen wants to make sure everyone feels heard and valued. So far, the environment on set already feels different,” the insider said.
‘Ellen Show’ ratings
Following the premiere episode of Ellen Show, reports revealed that there was a sudden increase in the program’s ratings.
According to Nielsen, the premiere episode was the show’s highest premiere rating since 2016. The premiere episode of Ellen Show received a 1.9 household rating.
However, the ratings for the show dropped 25 percent on week two. And according to OK! magazine, Ellen Show didn’t even rate in the top five TV News Check reports.
The magazine claimed that the sudden spike in ratings during the premiere episode may have been because everyone’s curious how Ellen DeGeneres would address the criticisms. But it’s evident that a lot her fans no longer tuned in on week two.
While it is true that the ratings for Ellen Show dropped considerably, it’s unclear if de Rossi really helped her wife write her apology. After all, National Enquirer is the only tabloid that’s been claiming that this is the case.
De Rossi showed her support for DeGeneres last summer amid the countless criticisms she received. But she only did this via a post on Instagram and by telling reporters that her wife would return to Ellen Show.
Other than that, de Rossi has stayed out of the limelight. But she was also present when Ellen DeGeneres filmed the premiere episode.
