Ellen DeGeneres just announced that she will be leaving Ellen Show after next year’s upcoming 19th season.
During her interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ellen DeGeneres said that she decided to bow out of the program because she was no longer being challenged on the show.
“When you’re a creative person, you constantly need to be challenged. As great as this show is, and as fun, as it is, it’s just not a challenge anymore,” she said.
However, Woman’s Day claimed that this isn’t the real reason why DeGeneres decided to quit Ellen Show.
Ellen DeGeneres affected by the show’s low ratings
In recent months, there have been reports that the ratings for the one popular program dipped tremendously. And Ellen Show has not recovered.
And even though the comedian also said that her decision to quit didn’t have anything to do with the scandal that she was involved in last year, the tabloid said that this seems unlikely.
After all, DeGeneres’ reputation has forever been tarnished by the bullying and toxic environment claims directed at her and her staff. And this is, reportedly, one of the reasons why the ratings for Ellen Show dipped.
According to People, the toxic workplace allegations were the last straw for the comedian.
“After the toxic workplace allegations, the question was more when will [the show] end and not if it will end,” the source said.
Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi marital problems
Meanwhile, the tabloid also claimed that Ellen DeGeneres decided to quit Ellen Show so that she could focus on other things like her marriage.
A source for the tabloid claimed that DeGeneres moved out of her house to live with Courteney Cox because she and Portia de Rossi are having issues. However, the comedian herself said that she moved in with Cox not because she has marital issues.
So, it’s evident that the tabloid is just concocting all sorts of lies about DeGeneres.
Who will replace the comedian?
In related news, there are also rumors that Ellen Show would continue to air after Season 19 but it will feature a different host.
And one of the top picks to replace DeGeneres is, allegedly, Kelly Clarkson.
