Ellen DeGeneres contract on ‘Ellen Show’ ending ASAP if ratings don’t improve: Rumor

Share

Ellen DeGeneres recently signed an extended contract to host Ellen Show.

But according to Globe, the producers of Ellen Show are thinking about ripping the contract up if the ratings for the talk show don’t improve.  And this is, allegedly, causing Ellen DeGeneres so much stress.

“Ellen’s been walking a tightrope for months, but now the pressure’s on. She was given a stay of execution at the beginning of the scandal, but the viewers seem leery. Ellen’s signed into a long-term deal and won’t give up without a fight. But if her ratings go further into the dumper, and honchos can figure out a way to rip up Ellen’s contract, don’t be surprised if they do it,” the source said.

Ellen DeGeneres not yet free from criticisms, a backlash

The source said that DeGeneres might have dodged a bullet amid the toxic work environment claims because she wasn’t fired by the producers of Ellen Show. However, this doesn’t mean that she’s safe.

After all, she was, allegedly, forced to make a humiliating public apology during the premiere episode to try and put the scandal behind everyone.

‘Ellen Show’ ratings drop

But after the premiere episode, the ratings for Ellen Show were on a steep downward spiral. And no one wants to tune in to the program because they still, allegedly, think that Ellen DeGeneres is mean and a bully.

“Even though Ellen has two more years on her contract, she seems to be in an incredibly weak place. Now it’s all about the numbers,” the source said.

While the reports are true that there’s been a decline in the ratings for Ellen Show, it’s unlikely for the producers to rip her contract up. DeGeneres just renewed her contract last year so she will continue to host Ellen Show until 2022.

After this, Portia de Rossi’s wife can decide what she wants to do next.

“I’m excited to announce that I’ll be doing my show for three more years. Mostly because I love doing it so much every day, but also because that takes me to the end of my car lease,” DeGeneres said on an episode of Ellen Show.

Following the announcement, DeGeneres also shared her excitement on Twitter.

“Doing this show has been the ride of my life,” DeGeneres wrote.

Peter Roth, the president and CEO of Warner Bros., also praised Ellen DeGeneres by calling her intelligent, kind, and creative.
