Ellen DeGeneres reportedly felt “crushed” when she learned the alleged toxic work environment The Ellen DeGeneres Show had.
Ellen DeGeneres would often remind viewers to “be kind to one another.” However, it looked like it wasn’t happening on the show itself.
Some of Ellen‘s former employees alleged there was negativity happening behind the scenes.
After BuzzFeed News published an article about the ex-staffers’ complaint last month, it brought to light the issues of racism and culture of fear happening on the set.
The most recent piece the publication released was an allegation made against the executive producers that had something to do with sexual harassment and misconduct.
DeGeneres promised changes on the set
The controversy surrounding Ellen resulted in an internal investigation, which the show’s parent company, Warner Bros. Television, launched. In a statement, it revealed that the initial findings showed “some deficiencies related to the show’s day-to-day management,” People noted.
A source then told the publication that the 62-year-old host would personally “make sure those things are properly changed.” The insider also assured the comedian would return to the show when it comes back on air on Sep. 9.
“She wants to just put out a great show that makes people happy and feel good,” the tipster explained. “She’s very focused on that.”
Amid the slew of criticisms, DeGeneres gets the support of a lot of celebrities. However, some public figures criticized Portia de Rossi’s spouse and her alleged mean behavior.
“There is definitely a tension at Ellen that doesn’t exist at the other shows,” a different source told People. “The employees all seem on eggshells.”

Twitter users called out Kutcher’s tweet
Meanwhile, Ashton Kutcher came to DeGeneres’ defense but was called out after saying the Finding Nemo star “never pandered to celebrity.”
“I haven’t spoken with @TheEllenShow and can only speak from my own experience,” he tweeted. “She [and] her team have only treated me [and] my team w/ respect [and] kindness.”
“She never pandered to celebrity, which I always saw as a refreshing honesty,” he continued. “When things aren’t right, she handles it and fixes.”
The 42-year-old actor’s tweet received an outcry as people pointed out the reason behind the scrutiny DeGeneres is currently experiencing, Insider noted
Twitter user Ameri Naija stressed that former Ellen employees were complaining about their work environment.
“I get celebrity friends coming out in defense of Ellen to an extent. And I like Ellen,” Naija explained. “But… employees are complaining about their work experience there. Can that be understood?”
Naija added nobody knew what it’s like to work on Ellen but them. So, what Kutcher said seemed to invalidate what was they’re experiencing every day.
Kutcher also responded to one of the bashers, telling @DheerMD that “people should be held accountable for THEIR actions.”
