Ellen DeGeneres and Drew Barrymore have, allegedly, been feuding for years.
New Idea previously claimed that Ellen DeGeneres and Barrymore are highly competitive. And since they are both hosting talk shows, they can’t help but compete with each other.
Drew Barrymore couldn’t be happier with Ellen DeGeneres criticisms
A source told the tabloid that Barrymore took advantage of the controversies surrounding DeGeneres last summer to boost the ratings of her show. The 50 First Dates star was also, allegedly, able to capitalize on the delayed premiere of Ellen Show.
The insider also said that while DeGeneres was receiving a slew of criticisms, Barrymore was gaining praise.
“Drew is wonderful to work for and she, like everyone else in Hollywood, was appalled at what people have been saying about Ellen for months now. She wanted to make it very clear from the get-go that she is not cut from the same cloth,” the source said.
Ellen DeGeneres, Drew Barrymore feud started years ago
The tabloid also said that DeGeneres and Barrymore’s TV war didn’t just explode recently. Rather, they’ve already been at odds with each other since 2017.
Back then, DeGeneres produced the show First Dates that was hosted by Barrymore. But the program was canceled after just one season.
A source claimed that DeGeneres and Barrymore couldn’t agree when it comes to the creative direction of the program.
“Drew wanted more say on how it was done given she was the face of it all. Ellen was a total control freak and wouldn’t hear of it. It was never going to work between them,” the source said.
Drew Barrymore dubbed as ‘fat’
Ellen DeGeneres also, allegedly, called Barrymore “fat” in 2014. And even though the actress acted cool upon hearing the comment, Barrymore, allegedly, took offense.
“Drew was super cool about it, but let’s just say she understands what all these people mean when they accuse Ellen of being a nasty bully. This has been the worst year on record for Ellen. She knows she has a lot of work to do to drag her reputation — and her show — back from the brink, especially now that she has fierce competition in Drew,” the source said.
Rumors debunked
However, Gossip Cop debunked the tabloid’s claims by saying that Ellen Show hasn’t shown any signs of struggle since DeGeneres issued an apology during the premiere episode.
They also pointed out that the controversies involving Ellen DeGeneres had nothing to do with Barrymore’s show and vice versa. There isn’t also any proof that DeGeneres and Barrymore are feuding with each other.
