Ellen DeGeneres stepped out in public for the first time since allegations of a toxic work environment made headlines two weeks ago.
On Saturday, Ellen DeGeneres hung out with her friend, Kevin Hart, at Rosewood Miramar in Montecito. Hart’s wife, Eniko, spent time at the nearby beach while the friends chatted.
Ellen DeGeneres makes a rare appearance
For the outing, DeGeneres wore a blue printed polo shirt and khaki pants. Her blonde hair is neatly fixed. Hart, on the other hand, wore a light-blue printed polo shirt and shorts.
Photos of DeGeneres and Hart show the couple chatting while the former drink a glass of white wine. According to Daily Mail, Hart gave DeGeneres a passionate speech before the comedian took over.
DeGeneres talked to Hart nonstop during their outing. But it is unclear what exactly they talked about. The comedian’s wife, Portia de Rossi, didn’t join them during the excursion.
Kevin Hart defends Ellen DeGeneres
Hart is one of the celebrities that came to DeGeneres’ defense amid the ongoing criticisms directed at her and the staff of Ellen Show. On his social media account, Hart said that he hopes the day will come when people will become kinder to one another.
“We are falling in love with people’s downfall. It’s honestly sad… When did we get here? I stand by the ones that I know and love. Looking forward to the future where we get back to loving one another. This hate has to stop. Hopefully, it goes out of style soon,” he said.
Kevin Hart homophobic tweets and jokes
Last year, Ellen DeGeneres was the one that defended Hart amid the criticisms. Hart’s homophobic tweets were exposed after he was named as the host of the Oscars. A lot of people questioned if Hart was the perfect host for the awards show.
On Ellen Show, DeGeneres revealed that she spoke to the producers of the awards show and encouraged them to rehire Hart after he quit. She also said that she believes that everyone deserves a second chance.
However, DeGeneres’ decision to defend Hart did not sit well with a lot of her fans. After all, DeGeneres is an openly gay person.
During a previous interview with Rolling Stone, Hart admitted that some of his skits during his stand-ups were about the gay community. However, he said that he’s simply projecting his fear unto his material.
Other celebrities who have defended Ellen DeGeneres publicly include Diane Keaton, Ashton Kutcher, Katy Perry, and Jay Leno.
