Portia de Rossi was one of the first celebrities to show her support for Ellen DeGeneres amid the recent criticisms.
On her social media account, the Scandal star introduced the hashtag “I stand by Ellen.” De Rossi encouraged fans of Ellen DeGeneres to use the hashtag when sharing positive stories about the comedian.
#IStandByEllen didn’t receive a huge following on social media
However, an entire week has passed but #IStandByEllen has not gained traction on Instagram. As of this writing, there are only 530 posts with the said hashtag.
Some of the posts feature photos of DeGeneres hosting the Ellen Show. Others are photos of her and de Rossi.
Fans express their support for Ellen DeGeneres
On Twitter, more people used the hashtag “I stand by Ellen” alongside their messages of love and support for the funny woman.
“It’s so disappointing to see people rejoice over the demise of a celebrity via unsubstantial allegations. It’s kind of sick how obsessed people are to see successful people fall. I find it hard to believe anything being said about her. Be kind to one another,” Twitter user @petestavros said.
“Ellen is a legend and won’t go anywhere and just because you said this, brace yourself. #IStandByEllen. What did Ellen do? She’s not even accused of wrongdoing by the staff. She’s the reason why I can walk around and not be afraid to be myself,” Twitter user @emagenjam said.

Other celebrities who have been supporting the comedian
Other than the Ellen Show DJ, other celebrities have also defended DeGeneres amid the recent allegations that there’s a toxic work environment on the set of the program.
Ashton Kutcher, Katy Perry, and Diane Keaton had nothing but wonderful things to say about DeGeneres.
Jay Leno also said that he won’t end his friendship with his fellow comedian over hearsays.
DeGeneres’ brother, Vance DeGeneres also posted a touching tribute to his sister on social media. Vance also said that those that didn’t like his post about his sister can unfriend him on social media.
