After months of being criticized, Ellen DeGeneres addressed the toxic work environment claims on Ellen Show. The host also apologized for whatever it is that happened, as well as for the things that she did and didn’t do.
According to WHO, even though DeGeneres still received a slew of criticisms, the environment on set changed drastically during the premiere.
A teary and humbler DeGeneres also appeared to be friendlier towards her staff.
“Ellen’s happy to be back at work. They’re taking it one day at a time, but so far the environment on set already feels different,” the source said.
Following the premiere episode, Demi Lovato also showed her support to DeGeneres. On her Twitter account, the singer called her friend kind.
“You are the person people see on TV. You are kind, generous, and caring. This video was a perfect representation of that. I love you, Ellen,” Lovato wrote.
The “Stone Cold” singer responded to DeGeneres’ response to the claims that she’s not as kind as she seems to be on television.
“I became known as the ‘be kind’ lady, which is a tricky position to be in. So, let me give you some advice out there. If anybody is thinking about changing their title or giving yourself a nickname, don’t go with the ‘be kind’ lady. Don’t do it,” she joked.
Ellen DeGeneres then told her viewers that she is the same person that they see on television. But just like everyone else, DeGeneres has some good days and bad days.
“Sometimes I get sad. I get mad. I get anxious. I get frustrated… And I’m working on all of that. I’m a work in progress,” she said.
According to the publication, DeGeneres’ wife, Portia de Rossi also joined her on set during the filming of Ellen Show. After the entire episode ended, de Rossi and the entire staff and crew applauded the comedian for a successful premiere.
On day two, DeGeneres spoke with Alec Baldwin. And the latter also praised DeGeneres.
“Before we talk about my kids, Ellen, I just want to say you are someone, I have followed your career from when you were doing stand-up and you were a solo performer. I have watched the films you’ve done, and I’ve watched your success on this TV show, and you are one of the funniest and most talented women, one of the funniest and talented people, in all of show business,” he said.
Baldwin also encouraged Ellen DeGeneres to keep doing what she’s been doing.
