The veteran actress seems to agree with the 60-year-old stand-up comedian’s revelation about Ellen DeGeneres. The Everybody Loves Raymond star revealed he knew a couple of people that the 62-year-old host didn’t treat well.
“True story. It is,” Thompson said about Garrett’s tweet.
The Single Parents star slammed DeGeneres amid all the allegations thrown against her, In Touch noted.
“Sorry but it comes from the top @TheEllenShow,” he said in a tweet. “Know more than one who were treated horribly by her. Common knowledge.”
According to In Touch, Garrett had been on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on six different occasions. However, he never mentioned anything about his own experience on the show.
Garrett’s claim came after DeGeneres addressed the issues The Ellen DeGeneres Show is currently facing. She apologized to the show’s former staff, who, allegedly, experienced an alleged toxic work environment on the set.
“As we’ve grown exponentially, I’ve not been able to stay on top of everything and relied on others to do their jobs as they knew I’d want them done,” she wrote in a letter obtained by Us Weekly. “That will now change.”
“Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show,” she continued. “I could not have the success I’ve had without all of your contributions.”
Aside from the alleged toxic work environment that the show has, new allegations emerged about the sexual harassment and misconduct ex-employees experienced from top bosses.
In another bombshell article that BuzzFeed News published, it revealed the former staff members’ claims of “incidents of harassment, sexual misconduct, and assault from top producers on the show.”
Some said it was a common thing for the head writer and executive producer Kevin Leman to make “sexually explicit comments” on the set. Leman later denied this issue.
“While my job as head writer is to come up with jokes,” he said in a statement. “During that process, we can occasionally push the envelope.”
“I’m horrified that some of my attempts at humor may have caused offense,” Leman continued.
He explained he had always aimed to treat every staff member with “kindness, inclusivity, and respect.”
“In my whole time on the show, to my knowledge, I’ve never had a single HR or inter-personal complaint made about me,” he added. “I am devastated beyond belief that this kind of malicious and misleading article could be published.”
The Ellen DeGeneres Show is still under investigation.
