DeGeneres purchased the property last year for $27 million. Shortly after, they expanded the property’s footprint by purchasing an adjacent property for $1.9 million and combining the complexes.

The couple is currently asking $39.9 million for their Montecito compound.

DeGeneres and de Rossi, reportedly, erected structures on the property to make it an ideal quarantine hideout by installing a new security hut for a full-time bodyguard, a wide-ranging slew of tech, cameras, and lasers after they were burglarized in August.

The couple is currently residing in their $42.5 million Beverly Hills estate, which they bought from Adam Levine last year. They also have a smaller condominium in another part of Montecito.

DeGeneres and de Rossi aren’t just selling their Montecito property. The couple has also been putting some of their paintings up for sale. And according to reports, each painting is priced at roughly $1 million.

According to Bloomberg, DeGeneres’ paintings by French designer Francois-Xavier Lalanne are being sold for $500,000 to $1 million apiece. The comedian is also selling some of her artworks by Jean-Michel Basquiat and Alexander Calder through Sotheby’s Gallery in the Hamptons.

Is Ellen struggling financially?

Shortly after the news made headlines, National Enquirer claimed that DeGeneres is selling her paintings for fear that she could lose her hosting gig on Ellen Show.

“Ellen is smart enough to realize if she loses her cushy paycheck she won’t have enough to fund her current lifestyle. It kills her to have to sell her beloved art collection, but selling the new home in Montecito would hurt a lot more,” the source said.

However, the tabloid’s claims are not true. DeGeneres is still hosting Ellen Show. And even if this happens, the comedian has several other sources of income.

It is also important to note that Ellen DeGeneres and de Rossi have been selling their paintings for a decade now. The couple isn’t selling their paintings because they don’t have money.
