Ellen DeGeneres has, reportedly, vowed to discuss the slew of criticisms she received this past summer.
In a statement obtained by USA Today, Ellen DeGeneres expressed her excitement over the upcoming premiere of Ellen Show. According to reports, the new season of the talk show will air on September 21.
“I can’t wait to get back to work and back to our studio. And, yes, we’re gonna talk about it,” DeGeneres said in a statement.
Ellen DeGeneres apologizes for toxic work environment claims
Weeks ago, 10 former Ellen Show employees told BuzzFeed News that there’s a toxic work environment on the set of the program. They also accused some of the producers of harassment and bullying.
There was no direct accusation against DeGeneres back then other than her former employees saying that she should’ve been more involved behind the scenes.
Still, the comedian issued a public apology to her former employees and fans.
“On day one of our show, I told everyone in our first meeting that ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ would be a place of happiness – no one would ever raise their voice, and everyone would be treated with respect. Obviously, something changed, and I am disappointed to learn that this has not been the case. And for that, I am sorry. Anyone who knows me knows it’s the opposite of what I believe and what I hoped for our show,” she said.
During a conference call with employees and producers of Ellen Show last month, Ellen DeGeneres issued another apology. She also denied the claims that she refuses to make eye contact with her staff.
Will Ellen also discuss criticisms about her attitude?
But until today, Portia de Rossi’s wife has not reacted to the claims that she’s a mean girl and a bully. In March, several people who, reportedly, have worked or met DeGeneres claimed that she’s not as nice as she seems to be.
They also revealed that DeGeneres isn’t as kind as she pretends to be on television. There was, allegedly, a time wherein she pushed a staff’s head into a bowl of boiling soup.
One waitress also claimed that she almost lost her job at a restaurant because of the funny woman.
None of these claims have been confirmed to be correct. But what the public has seen are some awkward interviews of DeGeneres with celebrity and non-celebrity guests.
Mariah Carey recently revealed that she was extremely uncomfortable during her interview with Ellen DeGeneres in 2008.
