Ellen DeGeneres just received a slew of criticisms from one of her former guests on Ellen Show.
While speaking with The Sun, Dana Dimatteo recounted what it was like to meet Ellen DeGeneres and be on her hit daytime talk show.
Dimatteo flew from Chicago to Los Angeles to participate in the Make It Rain segment on Ellen Show.
Ellen DeGeneres faking her niceness for the cameras
While recording the segment, DeGeneres doesn’t stop smiling and laughing with the contestants. But Dimatteo said that her personality changes immediately after the cameras stop rolling.
“During commercial breaks, Ellen would break out of her ‘kind’ character and sit moodily in silence on her couch, not acknowledging anyone. She didn’t say one word to the audience unless the cameras were on – she snapped out of her character the second the cameras stopped rolling,” she said.
‘Ellen Show’ guests told not to be funnier than Ellen DeGeneres
The producers on Ellen Show also told the guests that they cannot be funnier than DeGeneres. After all, she is the star of the program and not her guests.
“We were told to act in a very specific way and to only speak if she asked us a question. They made us scream and jump around backstage as a test, it was pretty humiliating,” she said.

After the segment, Dimatteo said that she and the other contestants went backstage. They weren’t given any towels even though they were soaked in water. The guest said that it was cold and uncomfortable.
Overall, Dimatteo said that she didn’t enjoy the experience on Ellen Show.
“I didn’t enjoy myself on the show. You have to follow all these rules, you can’t be yourself, you have to clap constantly and laugh at things that aren’t funny,” she said.
Nikkie Tutorials, Corinne Olympios criticize the comedian
And she isn’t the only one. YouTube star Nikkie Tutorials also said that a similar thing about DeGeneres during her interview with &C magazine. The YouTube sensation said that she was hoping for a different treatment when she appeared on Ellen Show.
“Maybe I’m being naive, but I expected them to welcome me with confetti: ‘Welcome to The Ellen DeGeneres Show!’ But instead, I got greeted by an angry intern, who was a bit overworked. I expected a Disney show, but I got a Teletubbies after dark,” she said.
The Bachelor star Corinne Olympios described DeGeneres as “very aggressive and cold.” The reality TV star also said that the comedian made her feel uncomfortable.
Ellen DeGeneres has not yet responded to the criticisms directed at her. But she has apologized to her staff for their negative experiences on Ellen Show.
