Ellen DeGeneres and her show are under fire, and many fear that it might be axed. A new report claimed that James Corden would be replacing the award-winning host.
Ellen DeGeneres has been plagued with criticisms for being mean. Meanwhile, The Ellen Show has been under internal investigation after former and current employees complained about its toxic workplace. And just recently, three of its top producers were accused of sexual misconduct. Thus, there are speculations that DeGeneres will soon be replaced.
Ellen DeGeneres replacement named
Insiders at the show’s network claimed that James Corden would potentially replace Ellen DeGeneres. He was seen as her “long-term successor” even before the scandal hit the host, The Sun reported.
NBC Entertainment Chairman Paul Telegdy is part of the team examining the claims against The Ellen DeGeneres Show. An insider told the outlet that the Brit telly boss is a “huge fan of James” and has had him “high on his wanted list for talent and a long-term replacement for Ellen.”
“This issue has fast tracked everything and made everyone look at the future today. James Corden was being eyed for Ellen’s job in the long term before any of this came to light,” the unnamed source said.
“Now this shocking new development places a spotlight on the next step. James and his team have been trailblazers in modern TV, taking the once considered graveyard chat show slot into a cutting edge format with huge online, social media and global recognition. In five years he went from unknown to A-list star and creative.”
James Corden on replacing Ellen
There are also rumors that Ellen DeGeneres is quitting the show even before the string of controversies hit. Thus, the network has to fill a huge void.
Sources claimed that James Corden is a good replacement because he is well regarded for making the Late Late Show. He has his global brand and a huge online audience.
Also, an insider suggested that Corden is up for the challenge.
“James is always looking for new challenges.
But he has expressed concerns about raising his family in LA so far from his and wife Julia’s English families. They miss them greatly,” the tipster said.
“They have milled over a return home, but adore their lives and business opportunities so much in LA.”
Staff fears show is over
Meanwhile, The Ellen DeGeneres Show staff are worried that they might lose their job. An insider claimed that they are freaking out for fear that the host will quit, or the show will be canceled.
“Staffers are texting and calling each other freaking out as they fear Ellen [DeGeneres] will quit or that the show will be cancelled,” an insider told Us Weekly.
“The show feels done. It’s going to be very hard to turn this around.”
