Warner Bro.’s recent investigation following a slew of complaints from former Ellen Show staff has resulted in the firing of three producers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ellen DeGeneres was the one that shared the news to her the current staff on Ellen Show. Former executive producers Ed Glavin and Kevin Leman, and co-executive producer Jonathan Norman won’t return to work next month.
Ellen DeGeneres apologized to her staff again
During this week’s meeting, DeGeneres apologized to her staff for whatever it is that they might have experienced. She also said that she had been misrepresented by the people that work with her and for her.
Portia de Rossi’s wife added that she’s glad that issues were brought to her attention. DeGeneres said that she’s committed to making sure that the recent complaints won’t happen again.
Three ‘Ellen Show’ producers fired
David McGuire, the executive vice president of programming at Warner Bros., sent an email to the staff on Ellen Show. He said that they are committed to change and a new culture.
“Many of you have spoken with Warner Media’s investigators, and we thank you for your honesty. I hope this note is another way we are showing our commitment to do better,” he said.
Before their firing, Leman and Norman denied any wrongdoing towards the staff on Ellen Show. Glavin, on the other hand, hasn’t responded to the allegations.
Before the announcement, a spokesperson from Warner Bros. said that there was some truth to the complaints. However, they didn’t specify which complaints were accurate.
‘Ellen Show’ employees slam the producers, Ellen DeGeneres
Weeks ago, BuzzFeed News interviewed 10 former Ellen Show employees, who had negative experiences while working on the daytime program. They said that there’s bullying, racism, and harassment on set.
There was also a time wherein one of the employees had to be sent to a mental facility following a traumatic experience on set.
While there were no direct complaints about DeGeneres, a former employee said that as the person whose name appears on the show, she should’ve been more involved with the production.
The comedian issued an apology days later. And she also said that she would become more involved behind the scenes. However, not everyone felt that DeGeneres’ apology was sincere.
Portia de Rossi’s wife criticized
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton said that it seemed as though DeGeneres was putting the blame on other people but herself. Brand expert Eric Schiffer also said that DeGeneres’ apology came a bit too late.
But despite all the criticisms surrounding the comedian, she will still return to host Ellen Show.
