The Primetime Emmy Awards 2020 lost two of the most important people on stage after the two Emmy hosts tested positive for COVID-19.
Emmy hosts Giuliana Rancic and Vivica A. Fox failed to attend the awards night after they both caught COVID-19.
Ahead of the Sunday’s awarding, Giuliana Rancic and Vivica A. Fox revealed that they are out of Emmy festivities.
During the E!’s Live From the Red Carpet: The 2020 Emmy Awards show the duo called this year different after the event happened.
According to Rancic, she always takes missing an award show seriously. The fact that she missed Emmys 2020 made the whole year different for her.
“As part of E! and NBCUniversal’s very strict testing guidelines, especially before an event like this, I did find out that I tested positive for COVID-19,” she admitted.
Although the diagnosis caused her to go back to her home, instead, she expressed her gratitude when she learned about it.
She reasoned out that she could have possibly exposed other people if she did not find out the news.
Rancic Family Doing Well

Hi friends 💕 I shared this video on E! earlier today to explain why I was going to be missing our Emmy show. As I prepared to fly to LA to host E!s Emmy coverage, I discovered that I, along with my husband Bill and our son Duke, tested positive for Covid-19. As you may know, the health of those around me is always my first priority. We are all three doing well and are isolating at home and taking very good care of one another. We aren’t the first to get this news and we certainly won’t be the last so please continue to follow the safety guidelines to protect yourselves and those around you the best you can. We are all in this together. ❤️ Thank you so much to those of you who have been wishing us well. Please know we are sending you all lots of love from the three of us. Take good care ❤️ G, B & D
The supposed host may be suffering right now, but she noted that she is thankful that her family is still doing well amid the pandemic.
Like the E! News co-anchor, her husband and son also tested for COVID-19. Instead of feeling down, they continue taking care of each other during precarious time.
“As far as my health, I’m doing well. My husband and our son also did test positive, but we’re all doing well and taking care each other so I’m going to get back to doing that,” she went on.
In the end, she left a kind reminder to everyone to protect themselves and those around them from the dreaded disease. She also looked forward to meeting everyone again soon on the next red carpet.
Fox Also Got the Virus
Fox, one of the Emmy hosts, also announced that she tested for COVID-19, as well.
During the Emmys 2020 pre-show, she released a statement confirming that she cannot be with her E! family during the awards night.
Fox chose to isolate herself at home while taking extra cautionary measures.
“During these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever that we follow all safety and health rules and guidelines to protect ourselves and each other,” she said.
On Rancic and Fox’s behalf, Nina Parker and Brad Goreski ended up being the Emmy hosts this year.
