‘Enola Holmes’: Enola intends to outwit big brother Sherlock, cast details revealed

Premiering on September 23, Enola Holmes will finally arrive on Netflix. She intends to outwit big brother Sherlock as she searches for her missing mother.

Netflix movie Enola Holmes is a two-hour-long comedy-mystery film set in the plot of the Sherlock Holmes Netflix series.  Furthermore, Ms. Brown is co-starred by Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes, and Sam Claflin as Mycroft Holmes.

While the fifth installment of Sherlock Holmes is still in development, the producers hope to fill the void felt by his most avid fans through the adventures of Enola Holmes. Moreover, the film has an approval rating of 86% based on 42 reviews according to review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes.

Who is Enola Holmes?

Enola Holmes is the central figure in Nancy Springer’s The Enola Holmes Mysteries. Besides, Nancy Springer has authored six novels based on Enola’s character.  In the novel series, Enola is the fourteen-year-old sister of Sherlock and Mycroft.  Alike her brothers, Enola, possesses excellent sleuthing skills and a mind that is as keen as Sherlock’s.

Movie Plot

In the movie, Lady Eudoria Vernet Holmes, the mother of Sherlock, Mycroft, and Enola, mysteriously disappears. Upon her disappearance, both brothers took it upon themselves to make a lady out of Enola and plan to place her in a boarding school.  However, willful Enola defies this and runs away to London.

With funds and a cipher left by her mother, Enola is determined to resolve the mystery surrounding her mother’s disappearance.  In her search, she crossed paths with a young runaway, Viscount Tewkesbury. Together, in 1884 London, they try to untangle a conspiracy that could change the course of history.

Cast and their roles

Helena Bonham Carter plays an important character in the story as Lady Eduoria Vernet Holmes. Like Enola, she is an eccentric and free-thinking mother. Besides, she has an unconventional way of raising Enola, teaching her martial arts, science, and cryptology.

An equally important to the story is Adeel Akhtar who plays as Inspector Lestrade. He is a renowned officer of his time. Moreover, Lestrade is the iconic detective who works with Enola’s brothers in solving crimes and mysteries. Fans will soon find out that Enola comes face to face with the inspector.

Fiona Shaw plays as Miss Harrison, the uptight and strict headmistress of Enola’s boarding school. Reportedly, she will be the first authority figure that Enola will have to deal with.
