Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Microsoft’s Xbox Series X are two promising gaming consoles that have been unleashed this year. The games to arrive are equally promising as well, most especially with titles from Epic Games.
Per Video Games Chronicles, Official PlayStation Magazine UK interviewed Epic Games’ chief technology officer Kim Liberi for their latest issue release. During the talk, Liberi reportedly expressed that his “longtime goal” is about to be fulfilled with the upcoming next-gen consoles.
With Unreal Engine 5’s Nanite tech, game developers will have the ability to produce “movie-quality” graphics in their games. Liberi said, “It has been a lifelong dream of mine that real-time computer graphics, and in particular games, can be as believable and realistic as a movie.”
He further explained:
Next-gen graphics and processing power will not only make games more immersive, but will also enable entirely new gameplay concepts that can take advantage of fully dynamic environments and lighting, much-improved physics, smarter AI, and richer multiplayer experiences.
During Sony’s PlayStation 5 unveiling, the gaming giant partnered with Epic Games. They showcased a game demo running on the PS5—Lumen in the Land of the Nanite—with the Unreal Engine 5.
Viewers, game enthusiasts, and journalists got a great first look at what the games running on EU5 would look like. Indeed enough, it does have a movie feel to it. It also looks very expensive, however.
Micky News previously reported that a Sony CEO Jim Ryan admitted the likelihood of an increase in game development budget with PlayStation 5. Nevertheless, this price tag does come with life-like gaming experience.
With The Mandalorian, game enthusiasts are given a sneak peek as to the depth of the photorealistic graphics for the upcoming UE5-developed games. Games sets will be built on the same high-quality assets in movie productions.
