Australia’s first ASX listed Esports business has just hired leading blockchain expert Jamie Skella, Micky News can reveal.

Mr Skella, who recently departed blockchain voting project Horizon State, will join Esports Mogul as ‘Chief Strategy and Commercial Officer’ from today.

Gernot Abl, Esports Mogul Managing Director, says the appointment is significant for the company.

“The alignment between Mogul’s business and Jamie’s breadth of experience in esports, digital product, and startups, seems almost uncanny,” Mr Abl said.

“I don’t think the fit could be more perfect. I’m excited that his arrival (will) deliver value to all corners of the operation and help realise our enormous potential.”

What is Esports Mogul?

Esports Mogul is currently focussing on the Australian and Southeast Asian esports market.

The company recently reached 1.5 million users on their Mogul match platform and announced the launch of a AU$275,000 tournament series.

“Jamie Skella’s appointment to Esports Mogul illuminates a fast track toward the business’ grand ambitions, focusing on what matters most, and doing so at a world-class standard,” the company said.

“Mr Skella will be running operations for the esports business, bringing with him over 20 years experience in building software and teams in emerging industries for ASX 100 businesses, global brands, and award-winning startups.”

Jamie Skella’s Background

Jamie Skella is regarded as one of the brightest minds in technology and digital product in the country and recently won the World Economic Forum Technology Pioneer award for his work in blockchain.

He departed Horizon State in August of 2018, after helping the start-up complete a successful initial coin offering (ICO).

“With Horizon State on a path broader than my original vision, the foundations for product development solidifying, and the birth of my first child, I’ve decided now is the time to focus on family,” Mr Skella said upon his departure.

Pursuing a passion

Jamie Skella will join Esport Mogul with a great deal of excitement, having been a keen competitive gamer for many years.

He has played for Australia’s best ‘Counter-Strike team’ and is currently part owner of Australia’s first esports bar, GG EZ Bar. M
