Although there has been no official announcement yet, the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has inadvertently revealed that Void Bastards will soon be ported to the Nintendo Switch.
It’s been almost a year since the game was released on Xbox One and PC and, at the time, there was no confirmation whether it would be ported to other platforms. The ESRB clearly knows something we don’t, however, as its ratings guide has revealed that the game will be available for the Nintendo Switch.
Ironically, the ESRB slip comes just two months after a European ratings board, PEGI, accidentally revealed that the game would be coming to the Playstation 4.
What is Void Bastards?
For those who haven’t heard of the game yet, Void Bastards is a mixture of good ideas from several games put into one title. The art style is cel-shaded like Borderlands. The gameplay is similar to BioShock and some hints of dark humor from Portal.
Blue Manchu, the developer of the game confirmed that Void Bastards were inspired by BioShock and System Shock 2. According to the studio’s former design director, Jonathan Chey, the design cues and game choices came from the two titles mentioned.
Chey says, “I love deep simulational gameplay of BioShock and System Shock 2 – they aren’t just run and gun shooters.”
The gameplay starts with you taking the character of an inmate trapped in a stranded spaceship. The spaceship then uses you to gather resources such as fuel and reach the ship’s destination. You will be sent to missions and visit other ships as your character traverses the Sargasso Nebula.
While exploring, you will be able to craft items and equipment for your survival. Aliens and other life forms come up from time to time and you will have to fight your way out of those enemies. If ever you die, another prisoner is available to replace you.
The dark humor and rogue-like mechanics make Void Bastards a very entertaining game. It easily tops as a must-have in your Nintendo Switch catalog once it comes out. The free updates that have arrived on the Xbox One and PC are expected to be included upon the release.
However, there is no confirmation regarding this one yet. The inclusion of the ‘Bang TyDy’ is still unknown, but if included, the DLC brings more ships to explore, new novelties and more enemies.
More game leaks by PEGI
Besides Void Bastards, PEGI has also revealed the horror fiction game ‘Goosebumps: Dead of the Night’. It’s a horror-survival game developed by Cosmic Forces and it will come out for Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch. The game spawns from R. L. Stine’s fiction series ‘Goosebumps’ and the latest addition to the multimedia franchise.
The Goosebumps received a rating of 12 for having “moderate violence, realistic violence of a minor nature towards human characters and scenes of a horrific nature that younger players may find disturbing.”
PEGI and ESRB have a long history of leaking games once the ratings are released. This comes even if developers have not revealed any official information yet. Metro Redux is also a victim of the early leaks as PEGI has released its rating for the PlayStation 4 and the Nintendo Switch.
