Another game bites Cyberpunk 2077’s dust, as Everspace 2 is now delayed. The game, scheduled to come out this December, moved their timeline to January.
Everspace 2 was happily planning its holidays a week ago until CD Projekt Red announced the delay for CP2077. Not wanting to banish into oblivion, the Rockfish Games decided to move their Early Access release.
To compensate their previous Kickstarter backers, the studio will add a few extra incentives. These will include beta access and new information on upcoming content.
Rockfish Games considers CP2077 a “major blow”
ES2 is a grand space quest in the making, and players are excited about its release. Even then, the timing of Cyberpunk 2077 delaying their game dealt a “major blow” to the studio. They will likely vanish into oblivion if they clash with CP2077.

Rockfish Games knows this, especially because they’re in Early Access. So far, the studio wants 100% attention from its base, and the last thing they want is competition.
“Let’s get the cyber elephant out of the room right away: The Cyberpunk 2077 release has just been pushed back to December 10, which is a major blow to our planned EVERSPACE 2 Early Access release in mid-December,” said the studio in a Kickstarter update.
“Not only will every media outlet and content creator cover the arguably most-anticipated AAA game in history throughout the entire holiday season (and not much else), we also know that there’s quite a bit of audience overlap within our community (and our team), so…
“After a quick consultation with our marketing friends at Evolve PR, Plan Of Attack, and Swordfish PR, we’ve decided to push back the EVERSPACE 2 Early Access release to January. We know that sucks, but hear us out! There’s actually some good in this.”
ES2 is another game affected by the delay
Everspace 2 is ready to move out of Cyberpunk 2077’s way. To compensate for the delay, the studio will give closed beta access to eligible Kickstarters.
❗️UPDATE❗️Closed Beta keys will NOT be sent out on 11/2… they've been sent out 2 minutes ago! Check your messages and buckle up, pilots! https://t.co/3NragXnk92

Starting this weekend, the studio will give away keys for the closed beta version of the game. Instead of waiting until mid-December, eligible fans can play the game starting this month. So far, the content is still a bit on the sparse side.
The content they have so far is enough for a “10ish hours” of adventure for Early Access. Players can play as much as they want until the initial release.
Cyberpunk 2077’s release affected more than its existing player base. Recently, Path of Exile issued a similar delay to make way for the game. Like ES2, the game devs are finding ways for the game not to overshadow their new season.
Everspace 2 will now release some time in January 2021. Fans can get more information through their Discord and their Steam page too.
