When it comes to fantastic JRPGs, it seems like the Nintendo Switch is the console to have. With Bravely Default 2 coming along the way, the console’s expansive JRPG library is growing further.
Bravely Default 2 is the follow up to the highly successful Bravely Default and Bravely Second on the Nintendo 3DS. From the makers of Final Fantasy, the game follows your standard RPG fare with turn-based combat, a job system, a great story.
Here’s everything we know about the game so far
The iconic battle system is back
Although it’s a turn-based RPG, the developers have ensured to make a mark on the series by adding their own twists to a familiar genre. The game introduces two options called Brave and Default. Brave allows players to spend all of their future turns in one go, while Default allows players to accumulate more turns.
It’s a strategic way to spice up turn-based combat, and fans are going to be ecstatic that it will return in Bravely Default 2.
The art style remains the same
One of the selling points of the original games was the beautiful hand-painted backgrounds that players can see in dungeons and towns. The developers have made sure to retain this art style, but with the capacity of the Nintendo Switch, the views will be much better in HD.
There could be more jobs
Jobs are a crucial part of the Bravely Default series as it lets players make their party truly their own. In the previous entries, players had access to typical Final Fantasy jobs such as Black Mage, Red Mage, Monk, Ninja, and Dragoon. In Bravely Second, there were a total of 30 jobs to choose from.
Seeing that Bravely Default 2 will be a step up from its predecessors in every way, we could have access to even more jobs as well. The demo gave players five jobs to try out, Freelancers, Black Mage, White Mage, Monk, and a new one called Vanguard.
It’s a completely new story
It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a game from the series, and the previous ones were released for the Nintendo 3DS. Those who haven’t played the original games have nothing to worry about as Bravely Default 2 features a whole new story and a different cast of characters as well.
Although the mechanics and art styles remain the same, it’s a fresh start for the series.
Bravely Default 2 currently has a free demo on the Nintendo Switch. Fans can play it in the meantime while the release date for the game is yet to be announced.
