Fairphone 3 Plus is finally official with updated internals. The pre-order is currently on-going in the U.K. with an SRP of €469[AU$758].
The Fairphone 3 Plus is pretty much similar to the Fairphone 3 on some components. However, the main difference lies in the cameras. The 3 Plus features a 48-megapixel main camera and 16-megapixel selfie shooter.
This device is by no means a flagship contender. It only has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 processor, 4GB of memory, and 64GB of built-in memory.

Other features include a 5.65-inch IPS LCD, 3040mAh battery, and fingerprint scanners.
Despite its mid-range specs, the company has a different approach to creating this smartphone that makes it unique.
The only “ethical smartphone” available
Fairphone markets its devices as the “ethical smartphone.” The reason behind it is its goal of creating devices that help reduce e-waste. Another aspect is its fair treatment of its employees who work behind the scene.
Besides these moral topics, Fairphone prides itself on devices that are quite similar to Project Ara.
Google’s Project Ara is a canceled concept of a modular smartphone. It works by having modules for each smartphone part.
The same concept applies to Fairphone. But, there are no hot-swap modules available.
Instead, users can easily replace broken parts such as the screen, battery, and camera. All it takes is a single screwdriver to replace parts.
This smartphone is also eco-friendly. Fairphone claims that the 3 Plus is made of 40% plastic.
The Fairphone 3 Plus lives by the motto “if you don’t need it, we don’t include it.” Thus the whole package is nothing more than the essentials. But, it is a great way to have a new device while saving the planet as well.
