‘Falcon and the Winter Soldier’ trailer sets viewing record

The super bowl trailer of Falcon and the Winter Soldier has smashed online viewing records, proving how excited fans are for the show.

According to Comicbook, the recent Falcon and the Winter Soldier trailer set a new viewing record during the super bowl. The Disney Plus MCU show is still a month away from its official premiere on the streaming service. But fans are excited already. And the figure of 125 million views for the trailer in the first 24 hours is proof of that.

“Falcon and the Winter Soldier”: What to expect?

Deadline first reported the news that the show’s super bowl trailer smashed several records online upon its premiere. The promo and the trailer earned a viewership of 125 million in just the first 24 hours. That’s a new achievement for a streaming TV series.

With this, Falcon and the Winter Soldier also defeated the Black Widow trailer’s record. Scarlett Johansson’s film’s clip gained 119 million views in the first 24 hours of its reveal.

On the contrary, the first phase four entry, WandaVision, had just 53 million views for its trailer on the premiere’s first day. It was shown during the Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2020.

Falcon and the Winter Soldier promos even beat Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker‘s teaser’s viewing figures. The latter’s teaser gained a viewership of 111 million back in 2019.

Meanwhile, there are still doubts regarding the contemporary Captain America and who will wield the iconic vibranium shield. But actor Anthony Mackie recently discussed this matter in a media interaction. Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, he said:

“See, at the end of Endgame, Sam didn’t accept the shield. If you remember, he told Steve [Rogers], ‘It doesn’t feel right because the shield is yours.’ So, the show is a long way of figuring around who’s gonna be Captain America.”

Apart from Mackie as Sam Wilson, the Marvel series also stars actor Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.

Upcoming MCU projects in future

The current scenario for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is not favorable amid the ongoing pandemic. Yes, WandaVision has begun the cycle of fresh content, somehow, but there are obstacles ahead.

Due to rising COVID-19 cases, theaters are mostly closed across the globe. People won’t prefer to go outside in that kind of situation. Only a few cities in the world are enabling movie screenings. Considering this, it seems highly unlikely that Black Widow, Shang-Chi, and Eternals will see a theatrical debut. And that isn’t very reassuring, especially for all the die-hard franchise lovers.

Coming back to Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the TV show premieres on Disney+ on March 19th.
