The Fallout 76 Public Test Server (PTS) rolled out around the same last year, as noted by GameRant. Based on its recent announcement, the upcoming update, Steel Dawn, will be, more or less, a big one.
Bethesda did the same when it originally introduced PTS before going live with its massive Wastelanders update. This observation alone can already spark excitement to its players as to what Bethesda has in store.
One important detail to note is that PTS will be rolling out next week. As pointed out by the gaming publication, GameRant, new content will be arriving “over a series of updates leading up to the full update.”
That means most of the upcoming update’s content won’t be readily available at the playtesting launch. This is somewhat similar to Activision‘s PTS process for its hit-mobile game Call of Duty: Mobile.
In fact, it wouldn’t be a surprise if not all content will be made available, to keep a little extra as a form of a surprise for the players. Nonetheless, what players can expect mainly are new NPCs and quests.
Also, Bethesda says, “we’re planning to kick off our next iteration of the Public Test Server (PTS) next week with our new C.A.M.P. Shelters feature.”
Furthermore, part of the playtesting is to introduce to everyone what it had in development as an answer to the community’s request. Which is to “give players more opportunities to construct awesome creations.”
Ergo, the C.A.M.P. Shelters.
Further details about that read:
“All you’ll need to do is build the door to your Shelter in your C.A.M.P. You’ll then gain access to an instanced underground location with a separate build budget from your main C.A.M.P. that you can build in to your heart’s content.
Shelters will come in varying sizes, layouts, and styles, and we’re looking to playtest three different types in this upcoming version of the PTS. You can have one of each type in your C.A.M.P., and each will have its own budget. We’re also going to remove material requirements in the PTS, so that you can let your inner interior designer run wild without needing to spend time hunting for components.”
Players are reminded that since the PTS is naturally going to make up mostly of unfinished builds or bug-filled content, understanding is a must. This is why Bethesda will be seeking players’ feedback all throughout the PTS.
