Although the Far Cry franchise is no stranger to the multiplayer aspect, it seems like Far Cry 7 will take it a step further, as per reports.
Now that Far Cry 6 is available for the fans, Ubisoft is focusing on the future of the iconic open-world saga. Without any doubt, the emphasis is now on the next installment, Far Cry 7.
‘Far Cry 7’ to have a bigger online multiplayer feature!
A new rumor suggests that Far Cry 7 might fully abandon the single-player aspect in order to focus on the online multiplayer mode. Well, there are a few valid reasons for this to happen in case Ubisoft eventually ends up doing that.
It’s because these days, the multiplayer genre is a popular option for all gamers across the globe. No matter what title they play, almost every new release features some kind of battle royale or online mode for an immersive experience.
When it comes to the Far Cry series itself, then it has witnessed tons of co-op multiplayer modes in the previous entries. And also in the newest Far Cry 6 as well. However, the single-player aspect is still present.
As per Kotaku’s former editor-in-chief, Stephen Totilo’s close source, Far Cry 7 will have a more “online-oriented approach.”
It makes sense as well since Ubisoft’s current approach also hints towards this direction. It’s now focusing more on live-service gaming titles.
Franchises such as Assassin’s Creed will drop the bi-yearly release cycle in order to have one big game.
So the title will keep receiving online updates in the form of various seasons (the trending norm at the moment). Grand Theft Auto Online and Sea of Thieves are other examples.
Interestingly, Far Cry 6 itself features many in-game QR codes to scan. It clearly suggests that a huge multiplayer mode is coming in the future.
Video games in 2021
Meanwhile, die-hard gamers can look forward to a lot of new AAA heavyweights even if they want a great multiplayer experience. Despite only two months remaining in its end, 2021 still packs a punch in terms of potential blockbusters.
Speaking of potential blockbusters, then there are titles such as Halo Infinite, Riders Republic, and Battlefield 2042. The latter was initially slated for an October release, but now it will arrive next month.
Activision and Sledgehammer’s Call of Duty: Vanguard is also making its way next month. The next big entry in the iconic first-person shooter series will heavily focus on the online multiplayer modes this time.
Other anticipated games launching this year are Cyber Shadow, Shadow Warrior 3, and Glitchpunk.
Coming back to the Far Cry franchise, again, then it’s latest offering, Far Cry 6, is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
