‘Final Fantasy XVI’ team continues work remotely – game still needs more work

Final Fantasy XVI was one of the undisputed show-stealers during the PlayStation 5 Showcase. Fans can’t help but look for more of the game even though there’s no release date for it yet.

A lot of developers are struggling during this pandemic season. Most developers try to make do with what they have as they have to consider the safety of their employees as well. For Square Enix, the show must go on for Final Fantasy XVI, and the developer has made quite the progress already.

Progress made but more work needed

Reports claim that Square Enix recently updated its recruitment page for the upcoming RPG releasing on the PlayStation 5. More specifically, the developer is now looking for people who can help create maps and dungeons, boss battles, cut scenes, and character action patterns. This is still a huge chunk of the game.

In terms of the work they’ve already completed, Square Enix notes that they already have the scenarios completed. It’s good that despite working on a big next title, Square Enix is still looking to bring in some new talent into the mix. This could help them create a fresh experience for the game.

As per the update by Square Enix, the team working on the game is currently doing so from the safety of their homes. This is no longer a rare practice now as developers like CD Projekt Red, Ubisoft, and Blizzard are all following the same format now.

Probably years away

There have been many rumors that the game is coming sooner than expected. However, based on what we’ve found out through Square Enix’s recruitment drive, it seems like the game will still be in development for a long time. At this rate, we might have to wait for a few more years before the game releases.

Based on what we’ve seen from the trailer, the game is going to bring back the series into high-fantasy themes. A lot of players have praised the direction Square Enix is taking. Of course, there are still those that are opposed to the direction, but its best to wait for more footage before we judge.

Final Fantasy XVI is the most anticipated title on the next-gen currently. Previous Final Fantasies have been getting a mixed reception. Many RPG fans believe that the developers finally have the formula for what fans want to be an amazing game.
