The software update, which brings the Charge 4 up to version 1.96.29, is rolling out now, so you should be able to update soon if you’re a Charge 4 owner.
Right now, Fitbit’s Charge 4 is one of the very best fitness trackers on the market. If you’re not looking for a device that looks like a smartwatch, Charge 4 is the best choice for you.
And now, a software update is available for all Charge 4 owners. Fitbit confirmed the release of version 1.96.29, where the device will have a ‘smart wake’ alarm and dynamic GPS.
Fitbit Charge 4 latest software update
The latest software update to the Fitbit Charge 4 gives one significant upgrade, which is the “smart wake” option. As reported by The Verge, the latest highlights (mentioned in this article) are now rolling out to all users.
The new Smart Wake feature of the smartwatch is a pretty cool addition to the existing one. This add-on will work alongside the wearable’s sleep tracker and set alarms to wake you up when you’re likely to feel well-rested.
Your Charge 4 will detect when you’re already at the right moment to wake up, based on the depth of your sleep, and wake you up with gentle vibrations. However, since it is still an alarm, it will continue to wake you at the desired time if you haven’t gone into light sleep in 30 minutes.
Another new option allows users to decide how long the screen display stays on once the Fitbit has been awakened. Like its competitors, this great feature means that your alarm time can become more advisory than hard times.
More updates: Dynamic GPS and Spotify Control
There are two more significant features for the Fitbit Charge 4 coming your way. These are Dynamic GPS and Spotify Control.
Dynamic GPS allows users to connect with the GPS using their phone if it’s in range, which may help with location efficiency and preserve the battery of the band. If your phone isn’t available nearby, the tracker will revert to its internal GPS, which can drain the battery life more quickly.
Another new feature of the Fitbit Charge 4 version 1.96.29 is the “Spotify–Connect & Control app.” Fitbit and Spotify worked together better than ever to give you all-over control to your music and podcasts, all from your wrist.
In addition to the new features, there is seven-day battery life, and other bonus features that used to be reserved for its smartwatches. Released earlier this year, the Charge 4 sells for $149.95.
