Five Nights At Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon announced his retirement from the video game industry after being exposed over his political donations.
In a post, Cawthon reveals that he will focus on his family at this point. He notes that Five Nights At Freddy’s will have somebody else he trusts at the helm.
All this comes after the FNAF community discovers his political donations. These include thousands coming to anti-LGBT politicians and even Donald Trump.
Cawthon quits
In his post, Cawthon looked at his career, noting that it was the 7th anniversary of the first trailer for FNAF. He noted much he enjoyed his time creating one of the more successful jump scare point and click titles in modern gaming.
I’ve had a blessed, fulfilling, and rich career,” Cawthon started. “I’ve been shown great kindness and I’ve tried to show great kindness in return.
“But here on the seventh anniversary of the first game’s trailer, as I realize that I was in my mid-30’s when I created the series and now I’m approaching my mid-40’s, I realize that I miss a lot of things that I got to focus on before FNAF became such a success.
“I miss making games for my kids, I miss doing it just for fun, and I miss making rpgs even though I stink at it. All of this to say that I am retiring.”
LGBT+ community being upset is understandable
The merit and quality of Five Nights At Freddys as a game is up for debate. The game has one of the biggest fanbases in the gaming community. Many of them being from the LGBT+ community, it’s understandable why they are upset.

Cawthon, in a Reddit post, admitted that he is unapologetically right. He notes that he votes for who makes sense in his perspective. Even then, among those he supported in his political donations include Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, and even Ben Carson.
To the politically unaware, these three names constitute much of the Republican leadership. They are currently in the works towards obstructing the Biden government and pushing for a controversial Voter Rights Act that marginalizes POC.
Republican politics is always bound to be anti-LGBT and anti-trans, hence the upset position of the LGBT. It doesn’t help that Scott had a final swipe against the community within his post.
“I have been shown tremendous love and support over this last week, a lot of which has come from the LGBTQ community,” he notes.
Five Nights At Freddys will be left to a different developer altogether. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach will likely come late 2021.
