A non-VR release for the survival horror game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted has just been announced and it is arriving on Nintendo Switch.
Game developer Steel Wool Studios has partnered with Lionsgate Games, ScottGames, and Striker Entertainment to produce a Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted compatible version to the handheld console, Nintendo Switch.
According to its website, Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted is:
A collection of classic and original mini-games set in the Five Nights universe. Survive terrifying encounters with your favorite killer animatronics in a completely harmless virtual reality supported— but not required, experience! Whether you’re performing dangerous maintenance tasks or busy surveilling the Pizzeria while avoiding an animatronic attack, it’s where fantasy and fun come to life!
What does the Switch version entail?
One thing to note about this version is that what it lacks in VR capability is said to make up with its added—not to mention Switch exclusive—HD rumble technology, and with an increase of its game difficulty.
Furthermore, it’ll require a whopping 13GB space file size and will retail for US$29.99 [AU$45.90] on Nintendo eShop.
The collection will contain four classic mini-games that showcase the best gameplay across the FNaF universe. Per its Nintendo eShop posting, FNaF: Help Wanted includes the following min-game set:
- YOU’RE HIRED – Time to get your hands dirty. Repair claustrophobic ventilation systems, troubleshoot broken animatronics that could activate at any moment, or spend your evenings cowering in the nighttime security guard office.
- CELEBRATE – Confront your favorite killer animatronics including; Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Springtrap, The Mangle, Funtime Foxy, and Circus Baby.
- FUN FUN PRIZES – Toys, Plushies, Bobbleheads, and candy candy candy! Earn super fun prizes you can play with at the interactive Prize Counter! Collect well-hidden Faz-Tokens to unlock even more rare collectibles for more SUPER FUN FUN FUN.
- PIZZA PARTY – Scenes from classic titles have been updated and remade for a fully immersive experience including; Five Nights at Freddy’s, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, Five Nights at Freddy’s 3, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, and Five Nights at Freddy’s: Sister Location
The Five Nights at Freddy’s success
The Hollywood Reporter highlights that the FNaF game franchise was designed by Scot Cawthon in 2014. FNaF first launched on mobile and on PC, then expanded to other consoles come 2019.
Meanwhile, Steel Wool Studios is an independent studio that worked with Cawthon to produce a VR version of Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted.
The FNaF franchise has since developed spinoffs, novels, and even a film adaptation is in the works—although other rumors claim that this has been canceled.
Five Nights at Freddy’s: Help Wanted is also available on Windows PC (via Steam), PlayStation 4, and Oculus Rift.
