Florence Pugh is all set to appear in the upcoming Marvel film Black Widow. But even though she is a seasoned actress, she admits that she has worries over her role.
Florence Pugh recently talked to ELLE UK wherein she opened up about all sorts of things including her part in the first movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe Phase 4.
Pugh nabbed the role as Yelena Belova, a Russian spy and the sister-figure of Scarlett Johansson’s character Natasha Romanoff or Black Widow.
What is she scared of in the movie?
Before Black Widow, Pugh appeared in the film The Falling with a main role alongside Game of Thrones’ Maisie Williams. Her career has taken off since that project.
Earlier this year, she was Oscar-nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Little Women. It’s easy to think that Black Widow will be a breeze to her considering her experience in acting.

But the 24-year old English actress revealed that playing the role of Yelena wasn’t an easy feat.
“When you think of Marvel, it’s big and daunting. Especially being a relatively small actor to look at it and go, ‘Oh! I’m going to be a part of this,’ that’s a big decision,” she says.
She also said that the most terrifying part would have to be hearing her Russian accent on the film. She recalled the time they had a cast reveal during last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con.
They were going to watch a clip together with the audience and while Johansson looked confident, she was worried about her Russian accent.
“She’s so amazing and effortless. Then we watched the clip and I was scared because my Russian accent was going to be out there and I didn’t know what it sounded like,” Pugh said.
She also opened up about being nervous of how the Marvel fans will react to her casting of the role. Admitting that she wasn’t a Marvel fanatic growing up, Pugh pointed out that she was playing a character that no one has seen before.
However, Yelena Belova is a character that many has read in the comics. So she was worried about whether people were going to hate her.

Was her diet monitored?
The King Lear actress also talked in the interview about her diet while filming the movie. Her character involves a lot of physical movements so it was important for her to look good moving.
But she said that she didn’t want her diet and exercise to be “constantly checked on” in order for her to be in shape. She made it clear from the beginning that she will maintain control over her diet, exercise, and appearance while filming Black Widow.
So while Johansson had a cook, Florence Pugh preferred to make her own food and bring it to the set. The decision also rooted from her passion for cooking which she calls it “therapeutic.”
