Series overview
Crunchyroll’s official synopsis of Food Wars reads:
“Shokugeki no Soma centers on Yukihira Soma, a middle school student who is determined to surpass his father’s culinary skills. One day, his father decides to close down their family restaurant and hone his skills in Europe. Before leaving he enrolls Soma in an elite culinary school that is extremely difficult to enter with a graduation rate of only 10 percent. Will Soma be able to improve his skills, or will the kitchen prove to be too hot?”
Will season 5 be the last of the series
The manga series, which Yuto Tsukuda wrote and Shun Saeki illustrated, ended last year with Chapter 315 in Volume 36. Consequently, the three-chapter epilogue called Shokugeki no Soma: Le Dessert brought the total number of chapters in the story up to 318.
The fifth season, which ended airing in 2019, adapted up through Chapter 263. This means that the fifth installment only has 55 chapters left to adapt. Therefore, it’s very likely that Food Wars will have its finale in season 5.
However, neither the show nor the team behind it has commented on the matter. Thus, everything should be taken with a grain of salt in mind.
