Just ahead of its theatrical release, and according to latest datamine attempts, Fortnite seems to be getting new content from the Dune universe. Akin to previous collaborations, the additional content will include skins, pickaxes, gliders, et cetera.
The reimagining of a 1980’s movie, which derives from a classic novel, Dune, is coming to the big screen later this week. It features a star-studded cast, including Oscar Isaac, Dave Bautista, Josh Brolin, Zendaya, Rebecca Fergusson, and rising star, Timothee Chalamet.
If early critic reviews were to go by, it seems that it will take the audiences by storm, with many praising it. And, most likely to mark itself as one of this year’s best films that underwent into production amid the pandemic.
Big marketing
But if the reference material’s massive reputation isn’t enough to gather people’s attention, Dune is amplifying the marketing through a different means. It being an appearance in a game played by millions across the globe, Fortnite. An online shooter title that sort of became a marketing platform for its previous partnerships with known, even lesser known, brands. But, nonetheless, to the delight of fans for the novelty they bring to the table.
While Epic is yet to confirm the notion, dataminers have been quick at their feet in digging through Fortnite’s upcoming content. Consequently, coming across new stuff and revealing them to the public—likely, to hype up genuine fans.

Dune-related content
If you’re already familiar with Dune, or at least have seen the movie’s trailers, then you’d know what to expect. Costume-wise, the moving picture’s main protagonist and minor supporting character, Paul and Chani, will show up in the game. Both equipped with the iconic Stillsuit, and potentially an alternative outfit (knowing Fortnite, that is).

Along with the new skins are also fresh equipment that matches their uniqueness and theme of the crossover effort. For the Paul skin, there would be the Fremkit backbling, while Chani gets the Satchel on her namesake. Additionally, other content will include Ornithopter glider, the Maker Hooks, the Twinblades, unique loading screen, and the Sand Walk emote. Obviously, all of these items have their own thematic meaning. Which should encourage anyone to either watch the upcoming movie or read the books.
Coming soon
Pushed back due to the ongoing pandemic, Dune was set for an earlier launch in cinema. But it was pushed back for October 22, 2021.
