Royole, the manufacturer of flexible sensors and displays, reveals the new 3D-enabled freeform shaping micro-LED stretchable display.
The brand-new fresh display claims that it is the first global micro-LED-based stretchable display designed by Royole. It uses technology that congruous with current automated production processes.
The company presented the new display technology details at the 2021 Society for Information Display in Display Week Symposium.
During the event, Royole tells the technology labels another vital industry breakthrough in resilient electronics to its credit.

Stretchable electronics are the pioneering and latest innovation for flexible technologies nowadays. Moreover, they depend on building electronic circuits, including flexibility and resilience, enabling them to be flexed and move without snapping.

In fact, the stretchable displays can be folded and rolled. Besides, they have the potential for 3D free-form shaping, including pulling, bending, convex, and concave malformation.
The company states the technology unrolls new applications and probabilities that contemporary pliable displays are incapable of achieving.
The elastic property adds more advantages
The three-dimensional folding can support more compact smart devices using display technology. Additionally, they may be domed and bulbous shapes for things observed in day-to-day life. Over and above that, the company gives credence to the display invention that will inspire new form factors.
It requires flexible properties in industries like fitness and well-being, sports and fashion coupled with smart transit.
Elastible and stretchy electronics will essentially change the way the world constructs and designs intelligent devices and tools for prospects, the company says.
The company further says that its technology can be expanded by 130 percent more than a normal shape. It can survive convex bending of up to 40 degrees. It extends a resolution of up to 120 pixels per inch. It is a resolution that promotes use in PC and laptop screens. The current technology also renders transmittance up to 70 percent. It is much large than the current bendable OLED technology.
The significantly advanced transmittance makes the technology highly appropriate for more active solutions that demand transparency, including car wrap-around and sunglasses. The company showed an experimental display intended to check the method and design process. It is a 2.7-inch stretchable sample panel with a 96×60 resolution.
