Epic Games, following rumors of the case, has now confirmed Fortnite’s collaboration with the highly-anticipated sci-fi film, Dune.
Fortnite is getting fresh contents anew as its developer and publisher Epic Games finally announces its latest crossover. Previously, the-then potential tie-up went into public awareness via leaks. In it shows official images depicting the moving picture’s protagonists, Paul Atreides and Chani, and their respective equipment.
What to see
As seen from the leaked photos, both hero and heroine will don the franchise’s now iconic Stillsuit. Although the armor themselves have slight variations, as can be seen from the pictures. These are already authenticated as true. The duo also has their respective alternate skin, which is essentially the same gear, but with filt-plug (breathing apparatus) equipped. Completing the getup is also a complementary back bling that is unique to either Paul or Chani. The former gets the Fremkit while the latter gets the Satchel of her own namesake.
Other equipment disclosed in the leak were also confirmed as well. There’s the Ornithopter Glider, which is patterned after Dune’s attack ship. An aerial vehicle with multiple flapping wings, akin to an insect. For pickaxes, Paul gets the Twinblade Pickaxe, which is originally the “weapon of choice for an Atreides warrior”. Meanwhile, Chani receives the Maker Hooks Pickaxe, which is described as a “Fremen hook used to ride sandworms”.
There’s more
But the new content does not just end there. Making for another signature entry in the battle royale title is the Sand Walk emote. A somewhat irregular mobility, which actually has great significance to Dune lore due to the desert’s hidden danger. Players may not necessarily employ the same motion for the exact same reason within the game. But it nonetheless pays tribute to one of science fiction’s most prominent franchises.
Lastly, there’s also the Stickworm Loading Screen, which displays a semi-humorous Fortnite rendition of Dune. Especially highlighting the sandworm at the backdrop for comedic effect.
Arriving on October 19, the fresh contents can be purchased in two different bundles. The Dune Bundle comprises the duo’s corresponding outfits and back bling, as well as the Stickworm Loading Screen. Meanwhile, the Dune Gear Bundle consists the two unique pickaxes, the fancy glider, and the quirky, yet thematic, emote.
Dune will be in theaters and on HBO Max, only on the Ad-Free plan streaming in the US for 31 days from its theatrical release.
