New season details
Yoshihide Ibata will once again take the directorial seat to do Fruits Basket: The Final at the TMS Entertainment.
Taku Kishimoto also handles the scriptwriting again, while Masaru Shindo works on the character design. Lastly, the manga creator Natsuki Takaya himself serves as the executive supervisor.
The anime’s first season started hitting the small screen in April 2019 in Japan. It had 25 episodes that streamed on Funimation and Crunchyroll as it aired, Anime News Network noted.
After a year, Fruits Basket Season 2 was out, featuring the summer seasons with another 25 episodes. Funimation streamed its English dub after stopping its English simuldub production in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Both of the first and second seasons adapted Takaya’s manga series. However, per the mangaka’s request, the anime adaptation featured an entirely new Japanese cast and staff.
The anime also had to cover the entire manga story–no more, no less. The franchise’s official website announced the coming of Fruits Basket: The Final.
It is set to be out on April 5 and will stream on Funimation with an English dub. The tagline on its visual reads, “Don’t leave me.”
