G Dragon is set to bless the crowd again as the one and only BIGBANG leader prepares himself for return after a long hiatus.
K-pop fans are now all hyped again after multiple reports about G Dragon, and his new album began to emerge.
G DRAGON is back!
Earlier this week, netizens started to trend #GDRAGONisBack before they can welcome him again on stage.
According to OSEN, a Korean news channel, hinted that the leader has been so busy preparing for his return.
They detailed that G Dragon will come back with a new solo album.
Meanwhile, YG Entertainment, the singer’s company, confirmed the news.
“It is true that G-Dragon is working on new music,” YG Ent said in a separate statement.
The public also spotted him going in and out of the new office building of YG Entertainment, YGX, and The Black Label studio. This supported the news even more.
The news came over one year after he finished his two-year mandatory military service. He first entered the 3rd Infantry Division’s boot camp in February 2018.
Upon his return, he immediately became the first Korean to collaborate with Nike for their Nike Air Force 1 Para-Noise.
Meanwhile, his group’s last release was two years ago with the song Flower Road.
BIGBANG members already renewed their contract earlier this year. However, their comeback date is still unknown.
Initially, the K-pop boy group was scheduled to make their comeback through Coachella Music Festival this year. Unfortunately, the coronavirus pandemic crippled the entertainment industry and canceled most of the usual events worldwide.
As for G Dragon, his fans heard his music for the last time in June 2017 before his military service. He gave them a self-titled album, Kwon Ji Yong, and it remains one of his best-selling records ever.
G Dragon set a new record
Even before his comeback, he already made headlines and recognitions from different companies.
For instance, he appeared in VOGUE Korea Magazine. They printed the three photos alongside the caption, “G-DRAGON appeared on VOGUE Korea’s cover in 4 years.”
As usual, he flaunted his three alter egos on the three covers — G-DRAGON’, GD, and Kwon Jiyong.
Per ktown4u, VOGUE sold over 28,000 copies in just three days, breaking previous records made by other K-pop groups and artists.
Previously, EXO’s Baekhyun also occupied the top list with HARPER’S Bazaar October issue.
