Gal Gadot recently celebrated the 4th anniversary of Wonder Woman, and she marked it especially for her fans.
In 2017, Gal Gadot started playing the titular role of Wonder Woman in the DC Extended Universe. Even after four years, she manages to give justice to the female superhero.
As she reached a new milestone, Gadot paid a tribute to her very first Wonder Woman standalone film. She even gave the viewers a hint about the character’s future.
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman stint
On her Instagram account, the actress shared a clip from the finale of the 2017 film. In the video, the character says how she once wanted to save the world. After a lengthy monologue, Wonder Woman pronounced that her mission is to spread love to save the world.
“Wonder Woman came out 4 years ago and changed my life..Thank you all so much for the love, I’m forever grateful for this amazing opportunity and I promise we will always do everything to keep and tell Wonder Woman’s story in the best way possible. Love and Peace!” she captioned the post.
The first film surely led Gadot to where she is now. During that time, it became the most successful live-action film ever directed by a woman.
In addition, it became a challenger for four more records.
It potentially became a threat to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 after garnering over $103 million opening sales. Wonder Woman then became one of the top franchise-launching films – and its sequels explained why.
At the same time, the first film served as the first woman-directed, live-action film to ever reach the top 150 films.
How it became a hit franchise
Previously, director Patty Jenkins revealed the secret of how Wonder Woman managed to continue the story.
In an interview with CinemaBlend, the award-winning director revealed that she worked with Geoff Johns for Wonder Woman 3.
“But I’ve never felt this way before as much as I do now. I don’t think I’m doing it next, and so I sort of have to wait and see where we are in the world. It’s interesting,” she said.
She added that despite the changes, she still fell in love with the story they created.
Before the new sequel flies again, Jenkins will work with Lucasfilm for Rogue Squadron. The new film will be released in 2023. This only means that Wonder Woman 3 will not be available until that day passes.
