Gal Gadot commented on director Joss Whedon’s treatment and the set of Justice League.
Gal Gadot initially revealed to Israeli outlet N12 that Whedon threatened her career and warned her of his capacity to ruin her career if she did something. The actress once again touched on the issue during her interview with Elle magazine.
According to the 36-year-old Wonder Woman actress, she made a move after the incident happened and complained about his behavior to Warner Bros. The company’s executives, reportedly, responded immediately and took care of the situation.
“I was shocked by the way that he spoke with me. You’re dizzy because you can’t believe this was just said to you. And if he says it to me, then obviously he says it to many other people,” she said.
Gadot also said she felt she had to tell the company about it as it was not the first time he showed inappropriate behavior.
Joss Whedon suffers from several accusations.
Aside from Gadot, other Justice League stars and staff suffered from the same mistreatment, especially Ray Fischer.
The actor, who plays the role of Cyborg in the franchise, accused the director of having unprofessional behavior multiple times. In December, Fischer confirmed that WarnerMedia told him about the remedial action they took in relation to the incident. The company also thanked him for coming forward and helping the company in ensuring a healthy and equitable work environment for all.
A separate Justice League insider told The Hollywood Reporter in April that Whedon verbally abused the actress.
“He told her he’s the writer and she’s going to shut up and say the lines and he can make her look incredibly stupid in this movie,” the source added.
In the same report, Fischer revealed Gadot almost lost her Wonder Woman role as Whedon wanted her character to be more aggressive. The actress disapproved of his idea and defended her position against the embattled director.
Gadot also expressed her desire to make her character’s story flow as smoothly as possible.
Director Patty Jenkins, the forerunner of the two Wonder Woman films, also shared the same sentiments and recalled how she and Gadot informed then-Warner chairman Kevin Tsujihara about their concerns.
Following the emergence of the allegations, WarnerMedia already launched an investigation in December. Joss Whedon has not released a statement yet or apologized for whatever he did to the stars and staff.
