The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne edition is the package no one asked for, but the company made it available anyway.
At last, Samsung just put the cherry on top of a busy year. Last night, they announced the full details on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2. The presentation was short and sweet as it went directly to the discussion on the phone.
There is no doubt that the Z Fold 2 will change the foldable market moves forward. However, it faces stiff competition against the Microsoft Surface Duo. While it has a different mechanism, it still dips its toes within the foldable phone market.
It remains to be seen how these phones will fair in the market. Nevertheless, Samsung has a unique offering that Microsoft will not be able to match.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Thom Browne edition
As if the Galaxy Z Fold 2 doesn’t scream premium already, Samsung took it to the next step. It partnered with Thom Browne to create a masterpiece that only 5,000 people around the world can have.
In a sleek silver box highlighted by a red, white, and blue strap lies a collection of gadgets that evoke elegance. The Thom Browne edition package features the newest foldable phone, the new Galaxy Buds Lives, and the latest Galaxy Watch 3. All these devices have an undeniable premium signature Thom Browne finish.
For those that don’t know, Thom Browne is an American fashion designer who reconceptualized the classic men’s suit. His finishes are all sleek and elegant looking without going over the top. This design philosophy made him a perfect match for the Z Fold 2.
Not only does the new phone look even more elegant, but it also makes the phone stand out among the rest.
Is it worth it?
At face value, the Thom Browne edition package is something to aspire for. However, its price tag isn’t designed for everyone. The entire bundle retails for up to US$3,299. Samsung is offering a trade-in package which could deduct up to $800 from the price tag. So the question stands, is the Thom Browne bundle worth it?
For those that have extra cash lying around, the answer will be yes. However, for those that just want the complete Samsung experience, they would be better off not going for the bundle. Buying the devices separately could save the customer up to $800 depending on the specifications on the devices.
In the end, the decision will still depend on whether the customer wants the added design touch or not. If it’s the latter, then the obvious answer will be to buy the devices separately. After all, Samsung is offering them at a discounted price.
