BLACKPINK’s Rose ‘On The Ground’ hailed 8th in Genius’s Ranking
Ranking No. 8 is BLACKPINK ROSES debut song On The Ground.
Genius claims that On The Ground is a pop hit because of its use of the guitar. This amplifies the chorus’ bass-heavy EDM drop.
Rose released On The Ground earlier this year as her solo debut song, and the lead single from her album R. The song was released on March 12, Rose’s solo debut track. It is also the lead single from Rose’s album R. The song features a mixture of synth-pop elements and electropop, pop, and pop-rock. A simple guitar accompanies the song.
Rose wrote it along with Amy Allen, Jon Bellion, and Raul Cubina. Teddy Park, YG Entertainment’s house producer, also produced the film. Teddy Park, Jorgen Olegard, Jon Bellion (24), and Ojivolta also produced “On The Ground.”
Lyrically, On The Ground is about Rose’s rise to fame. She started singing and playing the piano in her childhood and then moved to South Korea to join one of the most popular K-Pop bands.
Rose says the song’s purpose is to communicate the message that “everything we need is already within us.”
The success of On The Ground, which was released in late 2012, broke many records. It was the most viewed Youtube music video by a Kpop soloist within 24 hours. Rose also became the first K-Pop soloist on Billboard’s Global 200.
Additionally, On The Ground was included in Billboard’s 50 Best Songs of 2021.
BTS ‘Butter’ grooved in Genius’s list!
BTS’ second English song, Butter, was No. Genius’s Best Songs of 2021 So Far ranked 15
Genius says that Butter has groovy energy, charismatic vocals, and witty lyrics filled with pop references. This makes it perfect for all ages.
Butter, the second English-language single by BTS, was released on May 21. It is a mixture of dance-pop and disco-pop as well as elements of pop-rap and EDM. The song was written by BTS’ RM and Jenna Andrews, Stephen Kirk, and Sebastian Garcia. Ron Perry, Stephen Kirk, and Robert Grimaldi also produced Butter.
The members of BTS claim that they did not plan to release another single. They decided that a summer song was needed, however, because the pandemic has been so severe.
Lyrically, the song does not contain a strong message. It is intended to be an easy song to listen to. Butter, a song compared to Dynamite, focuses more on each member’s charm and “smooth as butter” charisma.
The song became a hit immediately after its release. It topped multiple charts in Billboard and Gaon as well as Oricon. Their biggest achievement was Butter, which topped Billboard’s Hot 100 seven consecutive weeks. This is a first for an Asian artist.
It’s easy to see why these songs are among the top 2021 songs.
