Ruin Guards are annoying but more than that, they are dangerous. Here’s how you can effectively dispose of them in Genshin Impact.
There is no doubt that Genshin Impact is the hottest thing in gaming right now. It’s only been over a week since the game was released but it’s already gaining prominence with 17 million people downloading the RPG.
The game is free-to-play but it’s already earned around $60 million on mobile alone. The following months would definitely be good for Genshin Impact.
Genshin Impact gameplay
The RPG boasts an expansive open-world map in which players can explore and engage in various activities. You mainly play the role of world-traveler that was transported in the world of Teyvat. The open-world in Genshin Impact is so massive that it could give Final Fantasy XV a run for its money. And it only has two explorable regions as of yet.
Players can unlock 24 playable characters in the game. However, only around four (4) can be used at a time. These characters have an affinity to one of seven elements namely Cryo, Dendro, Pyro, Hydro, Anemo, Electro, and Geo. These elements interact with each other and it is necessary for players to choose compatible characters as a party.
Switching up characters is also recommended especially when going on missions. Some characters will be more suitable for a particular mission than others due to their elements.
The Ruin Guard
The Ruin Guard is basically a monster in Teyvat that lurks around ruins and areas containing treasure. They’re highly aggressive, often attacking players that they lock their eyes on. Not only that, players have to go through them before they can secure the loot they’re guarding.
It is recommended for players to at least be level 18 before taking on these machine-like monsters because they deal with quite the damage. The loot they are protecting, however, is often great which is why players should seek them out if they’re strong enough.
Defeating the Ruin Guard
Defeating a Ruin Guard is actually quite simple. But it’s also easier said than done. Because these monsters both have long-range and melee attacks, it’s important to choose your characters wisely.
These monsters have a weakness that players can take advantage of. The orange-looking eye in their heads is one of them. There’s also another area similar to the glowing eye in its back.
Attacking a Ruin Guard in these areas is critical. However, the vulnerable area in the back is only revealed when the monster is about to shoot missiles.
Because you don’t want to get too close, an archer like Amber would be the ideal choice. The best part is that most players will obtain this character early in the game.
But there are also other characters that are as ideal as Amber such as Fischl and Venti. That is if you had already obtained enough Wishes to unlock them.
Using these characters, attack these vulnerable spots repeatedly until the Ruin Guard falls down. Once it’s down, players should then switch to a melee/close-range type character and proceed to attack the downed monster.
Players would have to a dance of switching long-range and melee characters until the Ruin Guard is defeated. Afterward, you can treat yourself to some well-deserved Genshin Impact loot.
