‘Genshin Impact:’ How to conserve and get more Resin

As players progress further in Genshin Impact, Resin becomes a more prominent and important resource. Here’s a simple guide to saving and gaining more Resin.

There is no denying that Resin is one of the most valuable resources in Genshin Impact. In fact, one can say that it is the most valuable given its nature. This is all because of how it acts as a limiting mechanism for players.

What is Resin in Genshin Impact and how does it work?

Unlike most gacha games, Genshin Impact doesn’t leave its players unable to move forward without making a purchase. In fact, players can choose not to buy anything from the game at all and can still enjoy the game. Even its microtransactions don’t amount to much.

But if there is one aspect of the game that limits players, it would be the Resin resource.

Resin somewhat acts like “stamina.” This means that if a player runs out of this resource, they wouldn’t be able to perform many important activities or at least collect the rewards associated with them. This fact is more evident as players progress further into the game.

Players only have a maximum of 120 Resin at a given time. This resource is regenerative, producing one (1) Resin every eight (8) minutes. Regenerating all 120 Resin would take around 16 hours to complete.

How Resin is spent

Resin is always associated with endgame activity rewards. Players cannot access these rewards without the resource.

When players access the Ley Line Outcrops to defeat waves of monsters, the rewards from this activity would cost 20 Resin to access. Players need the same amount of Resin for Abyssal Domain rewards. When players defeat Elite Bosses, it takes 40 Resin to access the rewards and 60 for Weekly Bosses like Andrius or Dvalin.

The problem with Resin is that it is all too easy for players to expunge their daily supply but hard to get them back. And when players run out of Resin, they would find it hard to grind on Genshin Impact.

Getting more Resin

There are basically two ways for players to get more Resin. The first one is through the Fragile Resin item. This is a consumable item that players can get by increasing their Adventure Rank. The game only gives one Fragile Resin for every rank. Because of this, this isn’t necessarily a dependable method of getting more Resin.

More than that, the Fragile Resin only allows players to obtain 60 Resin per use.

The second way of obtaining more Resin is using Primogems, the game’s actual currency. Players get Primogems from doing various activities such as completing quests, opening loot boxes and chests, and by exploring the game.

Genshin Impact allows players to use Primogems to refill their Resin up to six times a day. However, the cost increases for every refill:

  • First refill: 50 Primogems
  • Second refill: 100 Primogems
  • Third refill: 100 Primogems
  • Fourth refill: 150 Primogems
  • Fifth refill: 200 Primogems
  • Sixth refill: 200 Primogems

Conserving Resin

Fragile Resin is not dependable and Primogems are best used to open loot boxes to get better characters and equipment. Because of this, players are better off conserving their Resin.

The most effective method for players to conserve Resin is to prioritize based on need. For example, if your character needs upgrading, don’t waste Resin in the hopes of getting a good piece of equipment. Saving your Fragile Resin until you actually have a need for it is also a good tactic.

Since the game regenerates lost Resin every 8 minutes, not spending Resin is actually a bad move. Do not let your Resin sit at a maximum when you could be earning more as the minutes go by.

Lastly, scheduling your game time in consideration of your Resin would also work well. For example, playing Genshin Impact once in the morning and once in the evening will not enable you to play at maximum Resin. However, it will allow you to do more activities if you can count the Resin earned in both morning and evening game times.
