With Genshin Impact befitting to the theme this year, Apple has named it the iPhone game of the year.
With the Apple company naming its App Store’s best games and applications of 2020, Genshin Impact hailed as the winner. The game enabled Chinese game studio MiHoYo to be recognized globally, having a $100 million budget.
According to measurement firm Sensor Tower, the game reaps an estimated $393 million in revenues in its first two months.
The games that are purposely made
With this year’s theme, “helpfulness,” Apple’s team of editors chose the game as its winner. With this, it can be said that the game was selected because it could take the gamers’ minds off the pandemic.
Aside from the category of Genshin Impact, Apple honored 15 applications and games in different categories. Andres Canella’s Wakeout! won the iPhone app of the year, while Zoom wins the iPad app of the year.

Furthermore, Apple‘s theme this year is applied to the applications and games that helped users stay fit and mindful.
It also speaks about fighting world hunger, keeps children’s education on track, and distracts people from an awful 2020.
Other games to be awarded by Apple
Disco Elysium, Legends of Runeterra, Dandara Trials of Fear, and Apple Arcade’s Sneaky Sasquatch were also game-winners.
For reinventing its popular outdoor location-based game with at-home experiences, Pokémon GO was also recognized.
Moreover, Apple created an App Store logo set into recycled aluminum to reward the winners. The said logo has the name of the winner engraved on the other side.
The award of Genshin Impact comes a day after it won the Google Play Game of the Year. As mentioned above, since Genshin Impact‘s debut on September 28, the title cost $100 million to make.
Meanwhile, the game hailed as the iPhone game of the year has recouped more than $393 million.
