George Clooney and Hillary Clinton allegedly had private meetings when she was running for president in 2016.
George Clooney allegedly had a private meeting with Hillary Clinton back in 2016. It was revealed when WikiLeaks released over 1,000 of the nominee’s private emails.
George Clooney and Hillary Clinton secret meeting
One of Hillary Clinton’s private emails revealed her private meeting with actor George Clooney, according to Radar Online in 2016.
“Please tell the Secretary that I have been able to clear my calendar and can be available for her meeting with George Clooney at 4:15pm today,” Senior Advisor of Global Partnership Initiative Gloria Gabe wrote in a leaked email dated March 12, 2012.
“Too funny!” advisor Cheryl D. Mills responded to Clinton’s private meeting with Clooney and human rights activist John Prendergast.
The outlet suggested that the meeting had something to do with Clooney’s wife, Amal. She was hosting a Clinton fundraiser dinner at the time.
Several celebrities attended the event, including Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Anna Wintour, and more. The event had 150 guests, and each ticket cost $33,400 to $353, 400.
What did happen after the email leaked?
The outlet added that the FBI interrogated Clinton for 3.5 due to the email.
“She is pleased to have had the opportunity to assist the Department of Justice in bringing this review to a conclusion,” a spokesperson for Hillary Clinton said in a statement.
“Out of respect for the investigative process, she will not comment further on her interview.”
What did George say on Hillary’s candidacy?
Although George Clooney supported Hillary Clinton’s presidential bid in 2016, he didn’t think Clinton was fit for the White House.
While he agreed that she was qualified, he didn’t feel that Clinton was as skilled as her counterparts in communicating.
“Being qualified for the job does not necessarily mean you’re the right person to be president,” Clooney said per Daily Mail.
“Here’s what I mean… She was more qualified than even her husband was when he was elected president, but she’s not as good at communicating things. That’s simply true,” he added.
George also explained why he supported Clinton despite his opinion that she was not fit for the job.
“When she got up and gave a speech, it didn’t soar,” Clooney said.
“Now, that doesn’t mean that she wouldn’t have done a great job as president, and I supported her because by the time we did the fundraiser the primary was over at that point and it was time to get on with picking someone to move forward, and she was the right person to side with.”
