Get a shiny Carvanha in today’s ‘Pokemon Go’ Incense Day event

The second Pokemon Go Incense Day event goes live today which features rare Water and Dark Pokemon spawns, items and more.

In celebration of the Throwback Event, Niantic launches the second Pokemon Go Incense Day. The event will be featuring Carvanha, a Gen 3 Pokemon, and its shiny form.

Because the Carvanha is both a Dark- and Water-type Pokemon, Pokemon with the same classification will have higher spawn chances when using an incense.

Today, trainers will be able to join the Pokemon Go Incense Day from 11AM to 5PM in their local time. The Pokemon Go shop will also sell cheap incenses for players who have run out of the item.

Pokemon Go Incense Day shifting schedule

The event will start at 11AM in your local time. Incense Day will run for six hours and is broken into parts.

Beginning at 11AM, featured Pokemon will change between Dark and Water types. Each hour will feature a different batch of Pokemon which will spawn more frequently.

These are the shifting schedules:

  • 11 AM to 12 PM – Water Pokémon
  • 12 PM to 1 PM – Dark Pokémon
  • 1 PM to 2 PM – Water Pokémon
  • 2 PM to 3 PM – Dark Pokémon
  • 3 PM to 4 PM – Water Pokémon
  • 4 PM to 5 PM – Dark Pokémon

Shiny Carvanha

This event’s most appealing feature is the debut of Carvanha’s shiny form. Like the other previous events, the featured Pokemon will have a higher chance to appear as a shiny Pokemon.

Shiny Carvanha’s usual look will be significantly different because of the change in color. Its normal red color becomes light blue while its dark blue sections become bright green.

A shiny Carvanha will also evolve into a shiny Sharpedo. A shiny Sharpedo’s color shifts from dark blue into bright pink.

Today’s event is the best time to encounter and catch the rare form of this Pokemon.

Other event features

While the shiny Pokemon is the highlight of the event, there are other rare monsters featured in the event.

During Water hours, Horsea, Tympole and Alomomola will have a boosted encounter rate. Alomomola is the rarest among them which debuted as a Valentine’s Day exclusive. This is a great opportunity for players who missed the chance to get it last February.

During the Dark hours, Sableye and Murkrow will also have a boosted encounter rate. Scraggy, a rare Fighting- and Dark-type Pokemon, will also be appearing within these hours.

Besides today’s Pokemon Go Incense Day, Scraggy will be only available via the Pokemon Go Battle League rewards.
