You can try iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 now, but don’t mind the bugs. These operating systems aren’t the final versions coming this fall.
Apple’s iOS 14 probably won’t be fully fixed and ready to download until sometime in September. However, you can get at your own risk as early as now, as advised by Apple.
iOS 14 Features that Will Maximize Your iPhone Usage
There are lots of new features coming to the iPhone once you download iOS 14. These updates include the ability to add widgets to your home screen, an app drawer-like feature called the App Library, and new ways to use iMessage.
Here are six features we think will maximize the way you use your iPhone once it makes the jump to iOS 14.
- Tag someone in a text conversation
- Pin a conversation to the top of the messages
- Apple now has a Translate app built-in
- A more organized home screen with App Library
- Widgets have a new look and a new home
- Picture-in-picture is a convenient tool you’ll love
iPads get some powerful upgrades and new features in Apple’s next software update, too!
Download iOS 14 public beta on your iPhone
The public beta for iOS 14 doesn’t have an exact release date as of now, but the American based company already announced that it’s coming very very soon.
To make sure your device supports iOS 14, here’s the full list of compatible devices:
- iPod Touch, 7th gen
- iPhone SE, original and 2nd gen
- iPhone 6s and 6s Plus
- iPhone 7 and 7 Plus
- iPhone 8 and 8 Plus
- iPhone X, XR, XS, and XS Max
- iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max
Remember that once you download the beta version, you’ll get the chance to test an unfinished system. Here are the steps by TechRadar on how you can check out the new iOS.
Step 1: Back up your iPhone
Doing this can restore your phone’s settings, apps, and data to the previous iOS.
Step 2: Enroll in the Apple Beta Program
Head to beta.apple.com and click on the ‘Sign Up.’ Enter your Apple ID and register with the Apple Beta Program and sign an agreement acknowledging the risks.
Step 3: Install the configuration profile
Once you’ve downloaded your beta configuration profile, it will show up as a new option in Settings to install.
Step 4: Update the iOS
Head to Settings > General > Software Update, and you’ll have the option to download and install the iOS 14 beta. Tap install to update as usual.
