Ghost of Tsushima’s expansion to Iki island will come with new skills as well as a difficulty scaling.
Sucker Punch’s highly-acclaimed action title is about to get its updated version soon. This means that aside from having significant improvements over the original, the game will also get additional contents, too. For pre-existing users, this meant seeing fresh inclusions as the game extends itself to a new map of Ikishima. On the other hand, this also implies substantial changes made exclusively for the next-gen version of the game.
Official Disclosure
Speaking with IGN, Senior Writer Patrick Downs and Game Art Director Jason Connell spoke on what players can expect in the game. While plenty has been said, which either confirms previously known information and adding new ones, it seems to highlight a single fact. Specifically, that the new iteration of the game will not have new stances and weapons to showcase.
Those are a major caveat to those seeking to see growth and an expanded inventory with the MC from his new venture. But Jin Sakai’s journey across a new territory will not necessarily be an empty encounter with the new things he’ll pick up along the way. Particularly, in knowing how to better customize his horse and tap on its charging skill.
Connell also claims that Jin will also be learning skills for himself as well. But, not to spoil the surprise, is something that the creative director encourages players to “find out for themselves”. While clueless as to what those abilities entail exactly, players can bet that they’d make the game easier for themselves.
Play Anytime
During the conversation, another important reveal was disclosed, which pays attention to the DLC accessibility. As it appears, anyone who will be getting the updated rendition of the game can get their hands on the new island experience whenever. That is, after making itself available as the player progresses far enough into the main story.
With that being said, players need not have to worry about making the jump to the new landmass. As it turns out, the game has in it a system that scales the difficulty with regards to the player’s existing progress. This meant that the Ikishima experience with neither be too easy nor too difficult for anyone playing on it at any point. It specifically pertains to players who are already post-game or are playing the game from scratch, respectively.
“If you’ve already gone all the way to the end of the game, it’s not like it’s going to be a breeze”. “It’s still going to have a challenge for you, which is important considering the way that we’ve implemented this.”
Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut will release on both PS4 and PS5 on August 20, 2021.
