Actress Gina Carano, a.k.a. Cara Dune, has been fired from The Mandalorian and the rest of the Lucasfilm projects over her “abhorrent” posts.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Lucasfilm has fired Gina Carano from The Mandalorian following her controversial social media posts. The Star Wars company blasted her recent comments and called them “abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Carano, in her posts, compared modern American politics to Nazi Germany. She mocked the use of masks amid a pandemic. Not just that, she also propagated fake news over the voter fraud issue.
Gina Carano and her future in “The Mandalorian”
Without making any delay, Lucasfilm immediately announced a statement over Gina Carano. The company said that she is no longer a part of it and also The Mandalorian series.
“Lucasfilm does not currently employ Gina Carano and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” said a spokesperson.
Moreover, Lucasfilm also condemned her social media posts.
“Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Earlier this year, Carano expressed her political views in a podcast.
“The whole reason why I started speaking out is that I feel like there is a large group of people that were being silenced this year and being forced to play this game of wokeism or whatever it is,” she said.
When it comes to her Hollywood journey so far, she has been a part of some big titles. They were Fast and Furious 6, Haywire, and Deadpool. In seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian, she portrayed Cara Dune, a battle-hardened mercenary.
Upcoming “Star Wars” titles on Disney+
Meanwhile, the Star Wars franchise will continue to go forward with its plans. No matter who goes out or who stays in. Due to the Disney Plus platform, it’s easy to come up with a vast collection of new content.
The streaming service will witness a great line-up of already announced projects. They are Lando, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi series, and The Bad Batch. But that’s not all!
The Book of Boba Fett, Rangers of the New Republic, The Acolyte, and Ahsoka are also big titles.
Then there’s also the third season of The Mandalorian. It will likely arrive at the end of the year. Like the second season achieved new heights, the next installment will also maintain this flow.
As expected, Pedro Pascal will also return as Din Djarin with his next adventure. However, viewers will also wait for his reunion with Baby Yoda, a.k.a., Grogu. Since at the end of season 2, the Child went with Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker, who made a cameo appearance, thus shocking everyone.
