POCO launched an original device earlier this month after a long wait. However, there’s another catch to the device that may leave some of the global users unsatisfied.
The POCO X3 comes with a 6,000 mAh battery, while the global POCO X3 NFC version comes with a 5,160 mAh battery.
Why the difference?
India’s POCO General Manager C Manmohan revealed in an interview with 91mobiles that the company chose to omit the NFC functionality from the Indian version of POCO X3.
The matter is backed to the setup that the NFC function is mostly used for payments in the Global Market is not required in India.
In India, users are more accustomed to using QR Codes and UPI payments for transactions, which do not require NFC Connectivity to function. Hence, the feature was omitted on its Indian version but not on its Global version.
In terms of difference, the Indian version has 16% more battery than the Global version, according to a report by Android Authority.
The fact is the sole explanation of why the smartphone device is named POCO X3 NFC in the Global market and POCO X3 in the Indian market.
Even though the Global version has a smaller battery than the Indian version, it still has a 5,160 mAh battery, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G inside.
To compare the POCO X3 with its previous generation, the POCO X2 had a 4,500 mAh battery in all of its versions. Undoubtedly, the POCO X3 is an upgraded version of the POCO X2 in terms of battery.
POCO X3: Highlights
Apart from the fact that the newest version of POCO has the lowest battery power of its kind, the new smartphone comprises significant features that will make it stand out among the rest.
The Indian version of the said device starts at 16,999 rupees (230 USD), and the global version surprisingly is also at the same price. However, the Global version prices are only promotional price and will be raised after the initial stock sells out.
Furthermore, the POCO X3 is the first smartphone to own the Snapdragon 732G of Qualcomm. The Snapdragon 732G is only a minor upgrade over the 730G in the previous generation POCO smartphone.
With the possibility of Snapdragon 750G launching soon, which is a 5G chipset, it would be difficult to predict the number of smartphones supporting this chipset given that the Snapdragon 750G glazes to be the successor of the Snapdragon 730G.
